Jaro is a little aged man from (Dugoor) village in Shangal. He was with his family on 14th August 2014 when ISIS started to take over his town, they fled to Sulaymaniyah. Now he is living on a small farm in a very small room with his family of 13 people. They live on the farm and take care of in payment of rent.
He started to tell the story of how they had to leave home: “When we heard that ISIS was very close to us my family and many other families escaped in a lorry. On the way out of the town we were shot at by ISIS. One of the bullets hit a tire but the driver decided not to stop and he kept driving with a flat tire. Fortunately, the Kurdish army (PKK) rescued us if not for them we would be dead now.”
Jaro has lost one eye due to sickness some time ago. He is currently having problems with his one good eye. As he spoke to us his eye was wet and blurry. He continued talking to us about how much he misses his home.
Jaro was working as an instruction worker in his village and he was so happy with his family but now he lives in an abandoned place and no opportunely to find a job. He has planted some vegetables like beans and cucumber but only for the family not for selling and that’s how he spends day to day here far away from home.
He has a sick daughter (Gule) which yet another difficulty and sorrow for the family. Gule has problems in her mind is prone to fainting requiring a lot of medical attention. All of the life's difficulties are weigh heavily on Jaro but he is keeps smiling and is always friendly with our staff at Family Center.
And now besides having a sick daughter and a financial crisis he is likely going to lose his one good eye.
The Family Center has been helping this family and many others with monthly deliveries of food, fruit, flour, milk and diapers. We try to do our best. We are hoping and waiting for a generous hand to come to Jaro's aid. As well as to the aid of many more families in situations like Jaro's.
When we see him full of hope even with one eye we are so thankful for what we have and look for ways to do more to help people like Jaro.
I hope that all of us will try to help Jaro and all of the other refugees until they are able to get back home and start putting their lives back together…

جارۆ پیاوێکی کەمێک بە ساڵاچووی خەڵکی گوندی (دووگور)ی شەنگارە. ئەو لە ١٤ ی
ئابی ٢٠١٤ ەوە لە ناوچەکەیان بە ھۆی جەنگ و تیرۆر و داگیرکردنی شەنگال لەلایەن داعشەوە
لە گەڵ خێزانەکەیدا بۆ شاری سلێمانی ھەڵھاتووە. لە ئێستادا لە باخچەیەکی کشتوکاڵیدا
لە ژورێکی بچووکدا لەگەڵ خێزانەکەیدا کە ژمارەیان ١٣ کەسە بەرابەر نەدانی کرێی خانوو پاسەوانی دەکات و لەگەڵ
خێزانەکەیدا ژیانێکی سەخت بەڕێ دەکەن. ئەو خۆی چۆنییەتی ھەڵھاتنەکەی بەم جۆرە دەگەڕێتەوە"
کاتێک دەنگۆی ئەوە بڵاو بۆوە کە داعش لێمان نزیکە، خۆم و خێزانەکەم لەگەڵ چەند خێزانیکی
دیدا بە سواری گەڵابەیەک ھەڵھاتین، بەڵام لە ڕێگا تیرۆرستان گەیشتنە سەرمان و دوای
ئەوەی تەقەقیەکی زۆریان کرد دەرەنجام تایەی سەیارەکەمانیان تەقاند، بەڵام شۆفێرەکە
ڕانەوەستا و بەو شێوازە مەترسیدارە و لە سەر ویلەکانی لە شۆفێری کردن بەردەوام بوو، بەڵام خۆشبەختانە
ھێزەکانی پەکەکە بە ھانامانەوە ھاتن، ئەگەر ئەوان نەبوونایە ئێستا ھەموومان لە ژیاندا نەمابووین". جارۆ بە ھۆی نەخۆشییەوە
چاوێکی بە منداڵی لە دەستداوە، تەنھا بەیەک چاوی دەبینێت، بەڵام لەم دۆخە ئاوارەییەدا
تەندروستی چاوەکەی تریشی تێکچووە و لە کاتی قسەکردندا زوو چاوەکانی تەڕ دەبن و دەیسڕین
و تەڵخ دەبن، بەڵام ئەو بەردەوام بوو لە قسەکردن.
ئەو بیری ناوچەکەیان دەکرد و و دەیگووت: لەوێ بە کرێکاری بژێویم پەیدا دەکرد
و ژیانێکی خۆشمان ھەبوو، ئێستا لەم چۆڵەوانییەدا بۆ ئەوەی کە بێزارتر نەبم ھەندێک پاقلەو
خەیارم رواندوو بە رۆژ چاودێریان دەکەم، بەڵام لەبەر ئەوەی بڕەکەی زۆر کەمە بۆ فروشتن
نابێت، تەنھا بۆ خۆمانمان داناوە جار جارە دەیان ڕنم و بۆ خواردن سوودی لێوەردەگرین".

خاوەنی کچێکی نەخۆشە بەناوی (گوڵی)، کە ئەمەش ئەرکێکی گرانی دیکەی خستۆتە سەر شانیان، چونکە کێشەی مێشکی
ھەیە و ڕۆژانە تووشی (فێ) دەبێت و پێویستە زوو سەردانی نەخۆشخانە بکەن، لەبارە نالەبارەی
ژیانیاندا، ھەموو نەھامەتییەکان لە جارۆ نزیکن، بەڵام ئەو ھەمیشە بە ڕوویەکی خۆشەوە
دێتە پێشوازی ستافی سەنتەرەکەمان و دڵتەنگی ناخۆشییەکانی ژیانی بە زەردەخەنەیەک دەشارێتەوە.
لە ئێستادا جارۆ جگە لەوەی کە لە
بارێکی ئابووری سەختدایە و کچێکی دوو چاری نەخۆشییەکی بێچارە سەربۆتەوە، خۆشی مەترسی
ئەوەی لەسەرە، کە چاوەکەی تریشی لە دەست بدات، ئەو کات ژیانکردن بۆ جارۆ و خێزانەکەی
ھێندەی تر سەخت تر دەبێت. سەرباری ئەوەی بە ھەموو ھێزێکمانەوە ھاوکارییان دەکەین بەلام
بە ھۆی کەمبوونەوەی ھاوکارییەکان تەنانەت کڕینی خواردن و پیداویستیەشمان سنووردارە
ناتوانین سەرجەم پێداویستیەکان دابین بکەین، بۆیە لە ئێستادا بە ئومێدێکی زۆرەوە لە
چاوەڕوانی دەستە میھرەبانەکانداین، تاوەکو (جارۆ) و دەیان خێزانی دیکەی ئاوارە، لە
مەترسییە سەختەکاتی ژیان ڕزگار کەین. کاتێ دەبینین جارۆ بە یەک چاوەوە پڕە لە ئومێدە،
ئێمەش پڕ دەبین لە ئومێد، بۆیە لە خەمی ئەوەداین ئەو ئومێد و تروسکاییەی چاوەکانی جارۆ
نەکوژێتەوە. ھیوادارین بە ھەموومان نەھێڵین تروسکای لە چاوەکانی جارۆ ببڕێت، ئەو ئومێدەی
کە لە ڕێگای ئێوەوە بە ئاوارەکانمان بە خشیووە بەردەوام بێت تا ئەو ساتەی ژیانێکی شایستەیان
بۆ دەگەڕێتەوە ئێمە لە ھاوکاریان بەردەوام بین ...
