I remember like it was yesterday. My friend Heidi and I spent three straight days envisioning and creating a proposal for a big dream - a Women’s Center - a place that would celebrate, protect and above all promote life, education and opportunity for women in Kurdistan. Much hard work and many miracles would have to take place before this dream would come to life and literally erect before our eyes. The two of us may have dreamt up the Center but it would take several years and the dedication of MANY skillful hands, brilliant minds and compassionate hearts to bring the Rapareen Family Center to life, to make it what it is today. It would take YOU!

10 years have passed since I was last able to visit Kurdistan and her wonderful people. From what I have read and been told the Center has undergone many changes over the past decade...some years more vibrant than others. This definitely seems to be a fruitful time for the Family Center. What I witnessed during my visit this month was heartwarming, beautiful, and also inspiring.
At your Family Center I had the privilege of attending violin classes where I observed master teachers patiently encouraging greatness in their students. I looked on as women worked diligently on beautiful sewing projects. I had so much fun participating with women in the exercise class and immediately afterwards experienced a boost of energy and improved mood (exercise is awesome!). Each evening I enjoyed the beauty of the Center gardens - so lush and well tended (Piroza Kak Taha!) I enjoyed observing parents watch as their children laughed and played on the playground. Everyday I felt more welcomed at your Center and I noticed that I was not the only one - everyone I met at the Center seemed “at home”, at ease and enjoying themselves. Incredible!
I want to thank everyone of you who works and volunteers at the Family Center for your dedication to excellence, it is evident that you care deeply for the Center and for the community. I thank you for your generous hearts, the gracious way you treat one another and guests like myself. It thrills me that I would feel comfortable sending ANYONE I know, from my three year old daughter to my ٩٨ year old grandfather, to participate at the Family Center because I have seen with my own eyes what you have and continue to create - a safe, respectful, creative and open place where everyone is encouraged to learn a new skill, increase their knowledge and enjoy themselves and respect one another.
Chika xan, Mahabad xan, Peryhan, Tara xan, Kak Kamaran, Kak Taha, Kak Diyar, Kak Twana, Kak Taher and Kak Abdullah - Piroza! Together you are all creating a delightful environment where unity, human kindness and dignity is prioritized, protected and promoted. In spite of the difficult financial crisis, the horrific violence in your country and the stress of day to day living, you are creating a REFUGE for anyone who comes to the Center.
Not only this, you continue to mobilize yourselves, taking all that is represented at the Family Center to nearby communities who have been displaced, wounded and torn by violence and war. Thank you! My deepest hope is that this good work continue and you find creative ways to bring dignity, resources and hope to these communities.
I also couldn’t help but notice some differences at your Family Center. In the course of one day I met Kurds, Arabs and Yezhidi’s, men, women, children and the elderly...How wonderful! What an example you are setting within your community and for all the world - It appears you have recognized that “different” does not have to be treated as “wrong” or rejected. Piroza!
On behalf of myself and the rest of the world - all of us who are looking with anticipation to see what you as a team and as a community decide to do next through the Family Center. My strong encouragement for you is to keep searching for new and creative ways to serve your community and all those that remain victims of violence and war. You are SO important, each of you...teachers and students alike!

بیرمە وەک ئەوەی دوێنێ بێت من و ھێیدی ھاوڕێم سێ ڕۆژی تەواوی خایاند بۆ وێنا کێشان و دروستکردنی بیرۆکەی خەونێکی گەورە (سەنتەری ژنان)، شوێنیک کە شادی بەخش، پارێزراو، شوێنی بوژانەوە و پەروەردەیی و ھەلێکی چاوەڕواننەکراو بۆ خانمانی کوردستان. پێش ئەوەی ئەم خەونە ببێتە ڕاستی و ببێتە ئەو جێگە جوانەی کە ئێستا ھەیە، چەندین موعجیزە و کاری زۆری بێپایانی ویست. ڕاستە ئێمە ھەردووکمان خاوەنی خەونەکە بووین، بەڵام ھاتنەدی ئەو خەونە ھەروا ئاسان نەبوو، بەڵکو چەندین ساڵ و چەندەھا کەسانی بە ئەزمون و ژیر و خەڵکانیکی دڵفراوان بونە ھۆکاری ئەوەی سەنتەری خێزانی ڕاپەڕین ببێتە دی وەک ئەوەی کە ئێستا ھەیە و بە ئێوەوە جوانە. بۆیە دەلێم:

ماوەی ١٠ ساڵ تێپەڕیوە لەو کاتەی، کە دواجار سەردانی کوردستان و خەڵکە بەڕێزەکەیم کرد. لە رێی خویندنەوە و ئەوەی کە کەم تا زۆر پیێمگەیشتبوو، ئاگاداری گۆڕانکارییەکانی ئەو ماوەیە بووم، کە ساڵ بە ساڵ چالاکتر لە ساڵانی پێشتری بووە. کە بە دڵنییاییەوە ماوەیەکی پڕ بەرھەم بووە بۆ سەنتەری خێزانی. ئەوەی کە من بە چاوی خۆم بینیم لەو ماوە کورتەی کە مانگی ڕابردوو سەردانی کوردستانم کرد، بەڕاستی جێگای دەستخۆشی و کارێکی جوان و جێی سەرنجە.
لە سەنتەرەکەتان شەرەفی ئەوەم درایە کە بەشداری کلاسی میوزیک (کەمان - ڤایۆلین) بکەم وە تێبینیم کرد کە مامۆستایانی بە ئەزموون چۆن بە پەرۆشەوە ھانی فێرخوازەکان دەدەن و چۆن خانمان بە پەرۆشەوە کار لە خوولی درووماندا دەکەن.
خۆشییەکی زۆرم بینی لە کلاسی ئیرۆبیک، کە دەستبەجێ ھەستم بە ئارامی جەستەو دەرونی کرد ھەروەک ئەوەی کە دەڵێن: (ڕاھێنان خۆراکی ڕۆحە).
ھەموو ئێوارەیەک چێژێکی گەورەم دەبینی لە پارکە جوانەکەی سەنتەر، کە زۆر سەرنج ڕاکێش و جوان پەروەردەکراوە (دەست خۆش بۆ کاک تەھا) .چێژم لە بینینی دایک و باوکەکان وەرگرت کە چۆن لە شوێنی یاری کردنی منداڵان چاودێری خۆشی منداڵەکانیان دەکەن . ھەموو ڕۆژێک ھەستم بە گەرمو گوڕی زیاتر کرد، لەلایەن ئێوەوە وە ھەستم کرد من تەنھا کەس نیم ئەو ھەستەم ھەبێ، بەڵکو ھەموو کەس ھەمان ھەستی ھەبوو ، کە چۆن ڕۆژ بە ڕۆژ ئێوە بە گەرم و گوڕتری بەرەو پیری گشت لایەک دەچن. ھەموان لەناو سەنتەر وەک ماڵی خۆیان دەبینی و زۆر ئاسوودە دەھاتن و دەچوون. بەڕاستی مایەی دەستخۆشییە.
دەمەوێ سوپاسی بێپایانی ھەریەک لە ئێوە بە کارمەندان و خۆبەخشانەوە لە سەنتەرەکەتان بۆ ئەو ھەموو پەرۆشی و کارە جوانانەتان بکەم. زۆر ڕوون و ئاشکرایە کە ھەریەک لە ئێوە چەندە بە باشی و جوانی و بەپەرۆشەوە لە خزمەتی خەڵک و سەنتەرەکەدان. سوپاسی ئێوەی خاوەن ئەو ھەموو دڵە گەورانە دەکەم، بۆ ئەو ھەموو دڵفراوانی و مامەڵە جوانەی لەناو خۆتان و لەگەڵ ئەو میوانەکاندا ھەتانە، ھەر وەک چۆن لەگەڵ من کردتان. ئەمانە ھەموو ئەو ھەستەم دەدەنێ، کە گەر ھاتوو ھەرکەسێکی ئازیزم بنێرمە لاتان لە کچە ئازیزە سێ سڵانەکەمەوە، بگرە تاوەکو نەنکی ئازیزم، کە تەمەنی ٩٨ساڵە بۆ سەنتەرەکەتان، من ھەست بەوپەڕی ئاسودەیی بکەم. چونکە بەچاوانی خۆم بینیومە، کە چۆن ھانی گشت لایەک دەدەن بۆ تازەگەری و فێربوونی شتانێکی جوان و نوێ، ئێوە وادەکەن کە ھەمووان چێژ وەرگرن و رێزی یەکتر بگرن.
چیکە خان، مھاباد خان، پەری خان، تارا خان، کاک کامەران، کاک تەھا، کاک دیار، کاک توانا، کاک تاھیر و کاک عبدللە دەستان خۆشبێ، ئەوەی ئێوەن کە واتان کردووە ئەو ژینگەیە دروستبکەن کە مرۆڤ و مرۆڤدۆستی بخەنە پێش ھەموو شتێکەوە. سەرەڕای ئەزمەی دارایی و ئەو شەڕو کوشتارەی لە وڵاتەکەتاندایە و خەمی ڕۆژ بەڕۆژی ژیانتان، بەڵام ھێشتا ئێوە بوونەتە مایەی دروست بوونی لانەیەکی ئارامی و ئاسودەیی بۆ ھەموان لە سەنتەرەکەتاندا.
جگە لەھەموو ئەو کارە جوانانەتان لەسەنتەرەکاتاندا ئێوە لەخۆبوردووانە و ماندونەناسانە، ئەو ھەموو کارو چالاکییەکانتان بردۆتە دەرەوەی سەنتەر، بۆ ئەو کۆمەڵانەی کە بەھۆی جەنگ و توندوتیژییەوە لە ماڵ و نیشتیمانی خۆیان ھەڵھاتوون. بۆیە دووبارە دەستی ماندووبونتان دەگووشم، ھیوام وایە کە بەردەوام و ماندوو نەبن لە بەخشینی ھیواو ژیانەوە بۆ ئەو کۆمەڵە خەڵکە.
گەرچی نەمتوانی ھاوکاریتان بکەم بەڵام درکم بەو ھەموو گۆڕانکارییە جوانانە کرد لەسەنتەرەکەتاندا کردووتانە. لەماوەی تەنھا ڕۆژێکدا کورد، عەرەب، ئێزیدی، لە ژنان و پیاوان، منداڵ و بەتەمەنم بینی لە سەنتەرەکەتاندا! چەند نمونەیەکی جوانە، بۆ کۆمەڵگا و بگرە بۆ ھەموومرۆڤایەتی، کە ئیوەی ئازیز پیشانی دەدەن. ئیوە تێگەشتوون کە (جیاوازی) لەھەموو ڕووەکانیەوە لەنیوان شتەکان دەکرێ، بەڵام پێویستە وەک: "تاوان سەیری نەکرێ و قبوڵ بکرێ". دەستان خۆش.
من بەناوی خۆم و پاشان ھەموو جیھان بە چاوێکی پڕ ئومێدەوە لە ئێوە دەڕوانین کە وەک: یەک تیم ئەو ھەموو کارە جوانەی سەنتەری خێزانی بڕیارتان لێ داوە و ئەنجامتان داوە. من ھانی ھەمووتان دەدەم کە ھەمیشە لە تازەگەری و دۆزینەوەی شێوازی نوێ بۆ خزمەتی کۆمەڵگاکەتان بەردەوامبن لەھەمانکاتدا بۆ ھەموو ئەوانەی کە بونەتە قوربانی دەستی جەنگ و توندوتیژی ھاوکار و یارمەتی دەریان بن.
ئێوە زۆۆۆۆۆر گرنگن، ھەریەک لەئێوە بێ جیاوازی بە مامۆستا و قوتابییەوە، ھەمووان وەک یەک گرنگن.
زۆر سوپاس بۆ بەشداری پێکردنم و ھەمووتان لە دڵمان و لە بیرتان ناکەم. ھیوای دووبارە سەردانکردنتان دەخوازم.

our beloved refugee families to work at the park and receive some money for their
work. We’re so glad that in spring our park is going to be a good place for
picnic for the schools around, students and teachers have their activities in
the park. During summer on weekends we have a small and beautiful cinema in the
park for all kids and family neighbors that also makes us feel happy and keep
going on service more.

ئەنجامدەدەن. هەروەها دلخۆشین بەوەی لە کۆتایی حەفتەی ئێوارانی هاوینیشدا دەبێتە
شوینی بینیی فلیمە سەرنجبەرەکان و خیزانەکان کاتیکی خۆشی تیدا بەسەر دەبەن. شوێنی یاریکردنی
منداڵانیش بە بەردەوامی دەیان خێزانی و سەدان منداڵ رۆژانە ڕوی تێدەکەن.
خەونەکانمان هەمیشە لە گەشەسەندندایە و لە ئێستادا لە هەوڵی کاری باشتر و جوانترداین
