For the past 6 months, Marsha has been working with Yazidi IDP children who barely escaped from ISIS when Shangal was taken over.  The children she teaches ranges from the ages of 5 to 11.  They all come from about 5 different families who live together in the outskirts of the city in tents. "When I first began teaching the children it was very difficult; they only spoke Bahdini, and I spoke English. But even though, they didn't understand me they were eager and excited to learn.  They were so happy to be inside a classroom again. It gave them some type of normalcy in their lives that they lost did not have before.

 When I look at their beautiful faces I see children who have been exposed to things that I can't even imagine and have suffered so much lost. I see early childhood marriages, I see high-risk children for human trafficking; but I also see love, life and hope," said Marsha"At first I thought they were so cute and so beautiful when they smile you would never think there was anything wrong. But as I got to know them and their families more, and began teaching them art therapy, I began to see the pain that was hiding behind their smile.

 The pains of the past and everything they lost: their homes, their father, brothers, relatives and their sense of security." They began to draw pictures of sadness, anger and confusion.  That is when I realized why they love coming to the Family Center, because for the two days they have their lessons they can be children again, they can run, play, smile and get all the hugs they want. And they learn English - without the knowledge of English it is very difficult for them to have a prospective future in Kurdistan. As a way to congratulate the class for finishing part 1 of their beginners English at the Family Center, we took the class to Gameland at the local mall. It was the first time they had been to the mall, rode up escalators and an elevator. I've seen them smile, but not like this. They were absolutely amazed.  And it made us so happy to see them happy. When one of the little girls saw the mall all she kept saying was that, "It's so beautiful, it's so beautiful!"  I was so happy that through this small act of kindness from the Family Center, the children were able to know that they are special and we see them as family. We at the Family Center hope that the children will continue to be inspired to learn, and be able to heal from all the tragedies they experienced.

کۆرسی زمانی ئینگلیزی بۆ منداڵانی پاشماوەی جەنگی داعش

لە شەش مانگی ڕابردوودا )مارشا جۆکیم( بە بەردەوامی کاری لەگەڵ منداڵانی ئاوارەی شەنگالی کە ڕزگار بووی شەڕی داعشن   کردووە. تەمەنی منداڵەکان لە نێوان ٥-١١ ساڵاندان. سەرجەمیان لە پێنج خێزانەوە ھاتوون، کە لە ناوچەیەکی دوورە دەستی دەرەوەی شار لە خێمەدا ژیان بەسەر دەبەن.

مارشا ووتی: "کە سەرەتا دەستم بە ووتنەوەی وانەکانی فێربوونی زمان کرد، زۆر ئاستەم بوو بۆ من: چونکە ئەوان تەنھا بە شێوەزاری بادینی دەئاخاوتن و منیش بە زمانی ئینگلیزی. گەرچی لە یەکتر تێنەدەگەشتین، بەڵام لەھەمان کاتدا ئەوان بە عیشقێکی زۆرەوە شەیدای فێربوون بوون. بە ڕادەیەکی باوەڕ پێنەکراو دڵخۆش بوون، کە دووبارە گەڕاونەتەوە ناو ژووری پۆل و فێردەبن. ئەمە وای لێکردن کە دووبارە ھەست بە ژیانی ئاسایی بکەن و بچنەوە ناو ئەو ژیانەی کە دەمێک بوو لەدەستین دابوو. ئەو ساتانەی کە سەیری دەم و چاوە جوانەکانیانم دەکرد، چەند منداڵێکی جوانی بێتاوانم دەبینی، کە بە بارودۆخی وەھادا تێپەڕیون تەنانەت نەمدەتوانی بە خەیاڵیشمدا بێت. وەک (بەشوودان بە منداڵی)، (ڕێژەی منداڵی زۆر) بەڵام لەھەمان کاتدا خۆشەویستی و ھیوای ژیانم دەبین. مارشا درێژەی بە قسەکانیدا ووتی: " لەسەرەتادا کە منداڵەکانم بینی بە ڕوویەکی خۆش و پێکەنینەکانیانەوە، وام دەزانی کە ھەرگیز ھیچ ڕووی نەداوە و ئەوان ھیچ کات ناخۆشییان نەدیوە، بەڵام کە زیاتر تێکەڵاویان بووم و خێزانەکانیانم ناسی، بە تایبەت کە دەستم بە کڵاسی ھونەر و وێنەکێشان کرد، ئەوکاتە ھەستم بە ئازارێکی تاڵ کرد لە پشت زەردەخەنەکانەوە کرد. ئازارێکی تاڵی کۆن کە تێیدا ھەموو شتێکیان لەدەست داوە. ھەر لە لەدەستدانی مالیان تا براو کەس و کاریان و خزمەکانیان، تا لەدەست دانی ھەستکردن بە پارێزراوی. ھەربۆیە لەسەرەتای کڵاسی ھونەردا ھەرزوو وێنەی غەمباری و توڕەیی و دان پێدانان لە وێنەکانیاندا بەدی دەکرا.

بۆیە ئێمە زوو تێگەشتین کە ھۆکاری ئەوەی کە منداڵەکان زۆر حەزدەکەن کە زوو زوو بێنە

سەنتەرەکەمان، چونکە لەو دوو ڕۆژەی کە لەلای ئێمەن دووبارە ھەستی منداڵ بوونیان بۆ دەگەڕێتەوە و تێیدا دەتوانن بەدڵی خۆیان و بەبێ سانسۆر ڕاکەن و یاری بکەن و لە ئامێز بگیرێن. ھەروەھا لەپاڵ ھەموو ئەمانەدا فێری زمانی ئینگلیزی ببن، چونکە بەبێ زانینی زمانی ئینگلیزی مەحاڵە داھاتوویەکی ڕوونت ھەبێ لە کوردستان".  ئەوەی لەم ماوەیەدا مارشا زۆر دڵخۆش بووە پێی، بردنی منداڵەکانە بۆ (شاری یاری) کە وەک: پیرۆزباییەک لەو منداڵە ئازیزانە بۆ بەکۆتا ھاتنی خوولی زمانی ئینگلیزی ئاستی سەرەتایی بوو، مارشا دەڵێت:" وەک پیرۆزباییەک ستافی سەنتەرەکەمان ئەوانیان بردە (گەیم لاند)ێک، لە یەکێک لە مۆڵەکانی شار. ئەوە یەکەم جاربوو مۆڵ ببینن لە ژیاندا، تەنانەت یەکەمجاریان بوو ئەسانسۆر و قادرمەی کارەبایی ببینن. ئێمەش لەگەڵیاندا ھەستمان بە خۆشی و زەردەخەنەیەکی زۆر زۆر دەکرد، کە لەمەوبەر نەبینراوە. هەر بۆیە ئەمە بەسە، بۆ ئەوەی ھەستی ئەوەمان بدایێ کە بۆ ئێمە ھەین و ئامانجمان چییە لە سەنتەری خێزانی ڕاپەڕین دەیەوێت چی بکات؟" یەکێک لە کچەکان بە درێژایی ئەو کاتانەی لە مۆڵەکە بووین تەنھا دەیگووت زۆر جوانە زۆر جوانە .... لە کۆتایدا مارشا ووتی: "زۆر شادمانم کە بەم چالاکیە بچوکەی سەنتەرەکەمان توانیمان کارێکی وا بکەین کە ئەو منداڵانە ھەست بکەن، کە ئەوان زۆر گرنگ و تایبەتن بە لای ئێمەوە و ئێمە بە خێزان و کەس و کاری خۆمانیان دەزانین". بە نووسینی ئەم چیرۆکانەی کە لەناو سەنتەرەکەماندا ڕودەدەن، دەمانەوێت جارێکی تر، خۆشەویستی بۆ مرۆڤایەتی دوو بارە بکەینەوە، لیرەدا بە ھیواین کە ئەو منداڵە خۆشەیستانەمان، بەردەوامبن لە فێربوون و ھەموو برینەکانی شەڕیان ساڕێژ بێت. 

ئەوان بتوانن دووبارە ئاسایی دەست بەژیان بکەنەوە، گەرچی مافی ژیانێکی ئاسایی ساکارترین مافی ھەموو کەسێکە. بەڵام جەنگ لەوانی داگیر کردووە، ئێمە دەمانەویت بۆیان بگرینینەوە.
